Method of Detachment (1) (2016)
Oil on canvas
50 x 70 cm

Drawing inspiration from moments of tension and suspense in film stills, this composition evokes the aesthetic of cinema and its sense of an unfolding narrative, only – unlike cinema – it destroys all hope of answers.

Method of Detachment was a performance piece before it became a series of paintings, using elements like space and costume to explore and perform identity through detachment.
