Method of Detachment (1) (2016)
Oil on canvas
50 x 70 cm
Drawing inspiration from moments of tension and suspense in film stills, this composition evokes the aesthetic of cinema and its sense of an unfolding narrative, only – unlike cinema – it destroys all hope of answers.
There is a distance between the observer and the object conveyed by the many mediums of abstraction that have been employed throughout the process, and this places the viewer in a position further and further removed from the object in its immediacy.
